I am a product-focused engineer with primarily backend experience, but I am never afraid to jump into a new stack or role. In the past that has included being the Tech lead on a React app, mentoring coworkers, running user testing, and managing new product development with enterprise customers.

Software Engineer

As the company grew and matured I have been able to focus on engineering, product development and iterating on my team’s agile development process.

Highlights

  • Architected and led a small team in the creation of MobilityScore, a product which consumes a wide variety of historic and real-time data to score a location’s access to everything from buses to scooters. This service is provided as both a real-time API as well as a widget that has been integrated into a number of real estate websites.
  • After building MobilityScore I realized that we could use the same algorithm to develop a completely different product. I quickly built an MVP for our team to test internally. Once the MVP had validated the idea, I built out the API that powered the company’s first serious foray into mobile. This app displays transportation options ranked by an algorithm that considers distance, scheduled availability and past vehicle availability.
  • I am currently the Tech lead on a team in the development of a new enterprise focused SaaS. In addition to writing the software I participate in discovery calls with prospects, liaise with marketing and enterprise sales to develop market positioning and branding, and work with account management to establish implementation time lines.

Before this app went into production at DCAF, a team of 75 case managers were inputting around 3,500 calls a year into shared Excel sheets. This app replaces that with a nice, clean, useable and shareable rails system that ditches spreadsheets forever!
